- Holocaust is wholesale destruction.
-
- Holocaust was the name given to the mass
- persecution and murder of non-aryan races
- by the Nazis during WORLD_WAR_II.
- The Nazis believed that they were an
- Aryan race - the perfect race. Any
- 'undersireables' should be destroyed
- according to the Nazis. Undersireables
- included: Jews, Slavs, Gypsies and
- political dissidents. An estimated six-
- million Jews died during the Holocaust
- along with millions of people from other
- races.
-
- There were many things leading up to the
- Holocaust. These included the boycott of
- Jewish shops, public humiliation of Jews,
- the extradition of the Jews into the
- Ghettos - such as Warsaw. The Nazis
- turned the whole 'aryan' German race
- against non-aryan races such as the Jews.
-
- The Nazi Party included Adolf Hitler and
- there are many theories into the reason
- why Hitler disliked the Jews. These are
- described in Adolf Hitlers auto-
- biography 'Mein Kampf'.
-
- After the Ghettos were the camps set-up
- by the Nazis. There were many camps in
- the areas occupied by Germany at that
- time. There were major camps which had
- smaller camps situated around it. All
- camps were situated on rail-routes so
- that easy transportation of prisoners
- could be implemented. The most
- infamous of all the 'death-camps' was
- Auschwitz. Auschwitz was the biggest
- camp and the most gruesome.
-
- When prisoners entered the camp by train
- they had a medical check by two doctors
- who segregted them into those who they
- thought could work and those that
- couldn't. If they could work they were
- made to help the German war effort.
- If they couldn't work - which included
- women and children, they were killed in
- the purpose built gas chambers.
-
- The gas chambers were designed for the
- job of mass-murder. The prisoners were
- made to take off all their clothes and
- go into what they were told were
- showers - where they would be de-lowsed.
- After they entered they sealed the
- room shut and then an officer would
- empty a tin of capsules into the room
- through a little iron door in the roof.
- After he emptied the capsules in he
- shut the door and the capsules would
- give of cyanide gas. After a few minutes
- some soldiers would go into the room.
- When they opened the doors a blue-haze
- would be in the air and they found that
- the bodies would be in a pryamid going
- up to the iron door in the roof. Each
- person trying to get out of the room.
-
- After they were gassed, German soldiers
- took glasses, gold teeth, wigs or
- other valuables from the people that had
- died so that they could be used for the
- war effort.
-
- In the camps, many people committed
- suicide. Many tried to escape but failed,
- they would have been killed by the guards
- surrounding the camp or while climbing
- the massive electric fences.
